Synopsis

As the camera rolls the van doors burst open. A man is bundled into the vehicle by balaclava clad kidnappers and handcuffed to the floor. As they drive, the man is questioned about his past and accused of a crime he maintains he did not commit..

As the drama unfolds, documented by the kidnappers, truth is revealed and the lines blur between the hijackers and their hostage. What are the kidnappers motives, where are they taking him and who is the victim?...

VICTIMS is a taught realistic drama, written & directed by award winning film maker David Bryant.  We watch the kidnap scenario played out in real time in a single take to its electrifying and unexpected conclusion ...

Buzz

"The ensemble acting and real-time premise combine for a charged
atmosphere and gritty, impressively executed cinematic experience." - Montreal Gazette

"Especially noteworthy is the performance by John Bocelli, as not only is he on-screen for ninety percent of the film, but he also has to maintain the audience's sympathy, with us spending much of the film wondering whether he's as innocent as he says..." - Arrow In The Head

"Many films in recent years have adopted the verite found-footage
approach to genre film storytelling. Few have been anything other than
lazy imitations of previous successes. Not this one. Not remotely" - Mitch Davis (Fantasia Film Festival)

John's Opinion

I love the idea of finding films which challenge me with its story. David Bryant shows us with VICTIMS that you do not need millions of dollars to create a compelling movie. All you need is a good concept, a strong story and some actors who are willing to put themselves on the line. I can not promise that VICTIMS will be a fun watch, but it is not meant to be. The story deals with vengeance, justice and redemption. VICTIMS will definitely leave you with many thought to work through as you walk out of the theatre.
